VIDEO: CERRITOS PITCHES IN TO HELP OUR 1st COMBAT ENGINEERING BATTALION TROOPS (1st CEB's) FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Cerritos loves our troops. Yep. We do indeed.

Last night, the fantastic Friends of Cerritos 1st Combat Engineer Battalion Adoption Committee, (also known as the 1st CEB'S) assembled more than 900 holiday packages to Afghanistan for Marine Corps members of this amazing group who are stationed at Camp Pendleton.

More than 150 volunteers, including longtime residents, students, former troops, elected officials, and neighbors in Cerritos gathered at Cerritos Park East to send the battalion, and to 130 other members of the tank company who are assigned to assist them in Afghanistan.

Think of the Academy Award winning movie "The Hurt Locker...", then you will totally understand EXACTLY what this talented group....and very brave souls... do day in and day out.

We recently lost two of the troops from the 1st CEB's in a tragic explosion. Keep them in your Prayers this holiday season....please!

Lot of cool things stuffed inside these bags...that you normally won't be able to find in a "bunker" in the desert fighting a war. I helped stuff body powder, comfort wipes, hand made knit caps, heavy socks, neck ice coolers, lip balms, chewing gum, hard candies, beef jerky, powdered drink mixes, candy bars, breath mints, sugar and coffee creamers, sunflower seeds, assorted mixed nuts, raisins, DVDs of really cool flicks, paperback books, combs, fingernail clippers and files, and a dozens home-baked cookies.

The children from Cerritos also sent hand written letters to each of the troops, so they won't get too "homesick." This is my second year helping with this project. It is one of the GREATEST CIVIC GROUPS in ALL OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY! Congrats to EVERYONE who organized this FANTASTIC EFFORT....the bags will arrive in time for the holidays!
