Santa Catalina Island,  CA

Has the body of  missing Newport Beach boater Frank Cipriano been found?

Authorities have recovered a body near Catalina Island in the same area where Cipriano had been reported missing a week ago Sunday, August 8.

A positive id of that body should be made official, maybe as early as today (Monday).

For the past couple of days, I have been receiving several notes and emails from friends and family members of Frank's telling me that a body had indeed been recovered and they "are dealing with this very sad news."

If you recall.... Frank and a few of his friends had been on a boat called "The Indecent Proposal" for a weekend of fishing and leisure.   He went missing when he took a dingy into shore from the Cherry Cove area of Catalina Island.

Members of the US Coast Guard and local law enforcement agencies told a local newspaper that indeed a body had been located last Thursday in the "general area" where Cipriano had last been seen.
The Los Angeles coroner's office is handling the autopsy...the case has been turned over to the Orange County Sheriff's Department for further investigation.

As soon as an "official" notice to the media is released,  I will get it on the blog...

In the meantime, can you please, keep Mr. Cipriano and his family and dedicated friends in your hearts and prayers during this day and rough week that lies ahead?

Update to follow...check back....
