Santa Catalina Island, CA
UPDATE AT 4:30 p.m.:
Officials do not know how many people are on board the aircraft and if anyone is injured. The plane crashed in a remote area of the island
A small plane crash has sparked a brush fire on Catalina Island this afternoon.
Currently the fire is at 25 plus acres and it is buring in grass and oak trees. No homes are in current danger, and due to the location of the fire on Catalina, members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department are having problems getting water on the blaze.
I follow the LA County Fire Department on Twitter, and would like to suggest that you do as well. This is a post from them less than 40 minutes ago:
"*Brush Fire* Catalina Island @ Echo Lake; 25+ acres, Difficult water supply, Addtl resources req'd to scene; Blue 1 @ 15:01 ###
More details as they emerge. If you are on Catalina, send me your IPhotos to RREconomy@aol.com
