STEVE WESLEY and CAMP KARL HOLTON: Former Los Angeles County Probation Camp Teacher Pleads to Child Abuse. Staged "fist fights" between teenage boys as young as 13. Earns 180 days in jail.

The scene of the abuse is now closed down.
Westey: Knock that smile off,  idiot!

PASADENA – A former juvenile probation camp teacher accused of staging fights between students from opposing gangs pleaded today, the District Attorney’s Office announced. Deputy District Attorney Ilean Richard of the Pasadena Branch Office said Stephen Wesley, 44, of Winnetka pleaded no contest to six felony counts of child abuse. Wesley pleaded “open” to the court, meaning a sentence was not negotiated with the District Attorney’s Office. Judge Terry Smerling said the defendant would be sentenced on April 15 in Department D of Pasadena Superior Court. Wesley is expected to be sentenced to 180 days in county jail and one year of anger management. Additionally, Wesley will lose his teaching credential, the prosecutor said. Wesley was a substitute teacher at Camp Karl Holton, a juvenile probation camp located in the foothills of the San Fernando Valley, where he was charged with teaching math and science to teenage boys between the ages of 13 and 17. On Aug. 8, 2008, the defendant allegedly matched up six students from rival gangs to fight. The incident was captured on video, the prosecutor said. Camp Holton has since shut down. I am glad that justice has been served in this case.  If ever their was a situation for an "eye for an eye" turn around, this crime qualifies in my book. Also, didn't Eagle Quarterback Micheal Vick get 3 years in jail for staging dog fights?  This guy stages fights between our children and get off with six months (which will probably be less than a month due to overcrowding) and "anger management."  WTH?  Shame. Your thoughts?
