 Pico Rivera, CA

Hang on to those taxpayer issued credit card records.

It appears that embattled Pico Rivera city administrators are the latest local city hall celebs to be put under the public criminal microscope for misuse of city issued credit cards.

Tonight, the folks over at the famed Whittier Daily News... are reporting that that co-city administrators Debbie Lopez and Jeff Prang (who is also a member of the West Hollywood City Council) and former city manger Charles P. "Chuck" Fuentes are under a criminal investigation by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office of Public Integrity for misusing city issued credit cards.

Listen up.  Pay attention to this situation, and that includes all mainstream media.

Pico Rivera has the BEST political smack downs and this one could become legendary....

From the Whittier Daily News....

D.A. reviewing allegations Pico Rivera officials misused city-issued credit cards

The District Attorney's Office is probing allegations that the city's two assistant managers and former city manager misused city-issued credit cards.

The D.A.'s Office is reviewing a complaint that former City Manager Chuck Fuentes and assistant city managers Jeff Prang and Debbie Lopez used city credit cards for expenses unrelated to city business, said Deputy D.A. Sandi Roth.

"There's an allegation of misuse of the city-issued credit cards for non-city related purposes," Roth said. "It's just an allegation at this point."

I wonder if Cooley is going to raid their houses like they did with former Mayor Belike, and former Mayor Gracie, and all the other past "PICO RIVERA CITY HALL FELONS?."

Why are they issued this credit cards in the first place.

If Prang and Lopez have nothing to hide, why don't they publish all of their expenses on the city website?

They need to do the right thing and turn back these credit cards as soon as possible.

What about BOB? said...

Isn't Councilman Bob Archuleta under criminal investigation for misusing gift cards to Krekorian Movie Theaters? What is the status of that investigation?

This is the worst kept secret in Pico Rivera.

Didn't Fuentes just rip us taxpayers off for $250,000 to "walk away" from being city manager a couple of months ago?

Turn your cards back.

Don't continue doing business this way.

Now it's Pico River's turn in the barrel again. It seems like corruption hunting season is affecting more and more cities.

A while ago in Commerce there was a recall effort to recall Robert Fierro and Tina Baca Del Rio on allegations of corruption. It was successful in only recalling Tina Baca Del Rio, this lasted for a short period of time; she was reelected again, then Robert Fierro was indicted and arrested on Federal corruption charges. The case is in court and the investigation is ongoing.

During the recall effort Robert Fierro stated his dedication to keeping the city “corrupt free” and said his goal is to promote fiscal responsibility.
Both Tina and Robert recommended more enforcement, with Del Rio referring specifically to code enforcement measures.

They were accused by the recall proponents of abusing the city’s car privileges. One of the perks granted council members is a car to drive between city events. Del Rio said such perks, as well as the medical benefits and stipends are approved by the entire city council. She summed up her feelings about the recall election, saying “The community deserves who they elect".

The Fair Political Practices Commission on May 5, 2010, found sufficient evidence and probable cause was found to believe that respondents Tina Baca del Rio, Friends of Tina Baca del Rio, and Laura Perez committed eleven violations of the Political Reform Act by not filing a campaign statement starting in July of 2005 and ending in January of 2009.

My question is; the group that initiated the recall that included several former council members and a planning commissioner have been silent on the current state of affairs regarding Robert and Tina. One would think it would be just the opposite; like I told you so; does anybody know?
