BELL: Time to start "Corrupt City Hall Tours." I'll be your "Tour Guide" and will show you where "the shoes" are hidden.

8:10 a.m.

Welcome to the City of Bell.  Just keep driving.  Don't stop and smell the roses, we have a tour to take.

As we keep driving, we are about to enter the World of Maywood and soon we will get a brief 45 second glimpse of Cudahy....

Bell Gardens curves into Commerce, and oh, look, over there, isn't that the corrupt city of Huntington Park on the horizon, and wait, the legendary Pico Rivera is around the bend.  If we have enough time, we will be swing by Montebello, Vernon, and Monterey Park.

I am going into the "Corrupt City Hall Bus Tour" business.

Yep.  Buyin' an open air "Double Decker" tour bus and hiring a driver (dude, I have one eye...can't see THAT good....), getting a business license from Lynwood City Hall...since they always take "cash" under the table.

Time for me to make some loot with "educational tours" around our corrupt world around us.

Time to get on the "Bus of Democracy" and start visiting some of the seedy local city halls, school districts, water boards, community college districts, and mosquito abatement boards, to figure out what elected official "bought what" on "our dimes and hundreds of millions of dollars..." year in and year out.

I have been beating the drum for more "transparency" in our local governments for eons.  Watching this daily circus in Bell and Maywood and at YOUR city hall soon... is beginning to get a tad boring.

These "johnny come lately" journalists from the LA Times who are openly bitching about "they won't show us the money...." is a sad commentary and laughable all at the same time.

One of my past political clients, (I will refer to her as a "well known female elected" member of Congress from somewhere around here) needed a pair of "pumps" so she could "look nice" for an "evening out" at a city conference.

She grabbed her city issued credit card, headed over to Nordstroms, and bought a pair of $600 shoes.  She turned the bill into her city manager and listed the expense as "office supplies."

Office supplies?  Gucci never looked so good on those "special feet."

So, no wonder the folks in Bell and the LA TIMES can't see the city bills. You gotta look for "office supplies" not the huge bloated salaries.

So, on my "Pirate Tours" we will "find the shoes" and lots of other trinkets and buried treasures hidden along Imperial Highway.

Yesterday, Bell Vice Mayor Theresa Jocobo did an interview on NBC News.

Old Mother Theresa was donning a pair of $1,000 designer sunglasses

Hummm.

Made me wonder.

Who paid for those "pricey" shades, girl?

Don't worry.

A pair of hand cuffs on corrupt and greedy politicians is well...priceless.

That concludes today's tour....see you next week in Riverside....

Update:

I was watching Fox business news last week and they were outraged about the corruption in Bell as I was and I started to think about a way to force the cities to have transparency: no more closed door sessions, the people have the right to know everything that is going on within their City. If you do not have transparency; you can not have accountability! Near the end of the Fox program a representative of The League of California Cities expressed my exact point. the following is a quote from their website.
"McKenzie shared that the League is leading the effort to provide much greater transparency on compensation of officials in state and local government by developing legislative proposals to tighten existing laws and give the public greater access to compensation information. The City Managers' Department is working on a parallel track to draft some new "best practices" guidelines for city councils on setting city manager compensation while still retaining the long tradition of local control. The city mangers stressed that decisions on compensation should be made in public."

I posted this on an earlier issue regarding the City of Commerce:

The Fair Political Practices Commission on May 5, 2010, found sufficient evidence and probable cause was found to believe that respondents Tina Baca del Rio, Friends of Tina Baca del Rio, and Laura Perez committed eleven violations of the Political Reform Act by not filing a campaign statement starting in July of 2005 and ending in January of 2009. I guess they simply forgot to file 11 statements; or maybe it had something to do with the FBI investigation of illegal campaign contributions during the 2005 city council campaign. You can read this for yourself on www.fppc.ca.gov/agendas/06-10/EDReport.pdf. The Commerce paper “Report to the People“, as far as I know has never acknowledged the fact that Robert Fierro his wife and Anna Perez were arrested and that a trial date was established, or the above mentioned issue; it must not be considered public information. I thought we had public information officers working for the residents of Commerce; maybe they don’t want another Recall effort.

I use to be an "Assistant To The City Manager" in one of these local corrupt city halls, and I was ALWAYS given $5,000 in cash from our city finance department to take care of "out of pocket" expenses for members of our city council when ever they travelled out of state at city conferences.

These local elected officials are all political whores.

I am glad you and others are standing up and telling it like it is.

Wasn't there a couple of city councilmembers in Temple City recently busted for bribery? Ahhh.... Councilwoman Judy Wong? Didn't she resign and going to trial?

How come none of these television news guys aren't mentioning Temple City corruption?
