Afternoon, Mahn

The rain has arrived. Thunder. Loud. Voices from the Gods above ring out all over this western end of the Caribbean.

Today many tears flowed at the Kingston International Airport when I said adieu to the Mustard Seed Communities Mission Group from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Georgia and California that I have been following and documenting for the past 7 days.

They arrived in the slums of Kingston from the comfort of upper suburban America, just like I did, not knowing what to expect, but willing and hoping to experience a life changing moment.

As they went through the maze of security checkpoints over at the airport, to return to their lives, they left with a future full of riches that you cannot place a price tag on.

I watched these amazing, loving, awe inspiring All-American teens step out of their comfort zones (or “happy place” as Katherine told me) to show love and compassion and respect to some of the most handicapped and disabled children and forgotten about children on this entire planet.

They spent hours upon hours this week talking, and caring and helping these children and young adults in “their world” no theirs.

This group of young MSC Missionaries put no limits on their affection. They left their I Phones, and laptops, cell phones, IPods, and bling blings, designer clothes, and slept in dorm rooms with 10 other people to help change the life of a young person here in Jamaica.

They left the airport today changed forever and their stories are heartfelt and need to be told to the world.

As I begin documenting the works of the Mustard Seed Communities, I will be following the remarkable young people I met this week for the next 12 to 18 months as they return to “life in America.”

So to my new “BFF’s” I salute and honor you for your courage and for the love you showed these special children of Mustard Seed.

To Andrew, Katherine, David, Pierce, Jericho, Andrew V., Abbey, Megan, David, Father Matt Glover, Kathy, JR, Irene, Jim, Michael, Abigail, Laura, and Kathy, thanks for your wonderment and magic.

You have touched the life of a child this week, and a little part of you will stay with them and me forever.

I am going to follow the lives of these young people, and many other volunteers and professional care givers who make up the heart and soul of the Mustard Seed Communities all over the world over the next 12 to 18 months.

BTW.

Also visited the Catherdal here in Kingston.  Built 98 years ago, and was incredible to see.

Will post pics.

Also...ate more chicken back, mahn and went light on the pig tails.

Pass me more of that goat....
