VIDEO FROM THE OC REGISTER!

BREA,CA
I wanted to update my readers about the case involving the shooting death of Jullian Collender.

Collender, the 25 year old resident of Yorba Linda was shot and killed by a Brea Police Officer last week after they were called to the upscale home of Collender and his family.

Collander, was unarmed at the time he was shot and killed, and tonight more than 80 friends and family members protested outside of the Brea Police Department and are demanding answers.

Here is a great video by Tanya Lyon of the OC Register that covered tonight's protest. Collender's family, including his father noted Orange County Attorney Richard Collender who claim that he was unarmed when he was shot.

The case is being reviewed by the Orange County District Attorney's Office, who investigates all  officer-involved shootings.  This case is being watched all over THE OC, and by media throughout Southern California.

We will all need to demand the truth. This could be YOUR family. Think about it.

ALLEGED, CLAIMED, SUSPECTED, REPORTED, ETC. if any of you strangers whose ears soak up the media like a sponge are passionate about what youre writing on here, you would have been at his protest/candle light memorial today. i spoke with any and everyone who wanted to know TRUTH today at the brea pd. he did NOT rob three kids in a shopping center at 8 pm down the street from his house with a gun for some ipods and cash. julian was at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. he was the only recognizable face to the LIARS who made a false police report THREE HOURS after they were allegedly robbed. julian had no criminal record, he GRADUATED from santiago and was just accepted into cal state fullerton. he is a beautiful soul and would have never hurt anyone. what i cannot share on this website, you will hear about soon. the cop who shot my friend needs to MAN UP or he will live in guilt for the rest of his life. julian has no day in court. this cop has a second chance.

The 3 victims in the robbery knew Julian. You might want to ask Julian's accomplice in the robbery. I bet she gave out some good info and who she was with that night. I also bet there was property belonging to the robbery victims found with or near Julian. I won't go into the shooting, but I can also bet that Julian was loaded up on dope and not thinking straight, as proved by doing a robbery. I was not there for the shooting, but assuming like everyone else does, I think the shooting was more than likely justified. The truth will come out whether or not there are protests in front of police departments. When it does, some folks that thought Julian was an angel will be eating some crow. I can assure you the police won't be protesting in front of their houses demanding retractions for slander.

The 2 males and a female that reported the robbery are adults and should be treated accordingly. These individuals are scum and should not be walking free. The report was completely fabricated and Brea PD knew that before they went on a manhunt and they know that now. Brea Police Department did these people's dirty work and are now trying to cover their tracks- the reason they will not speak is they need to fabricate a story and lie to cover themselves. The Brea Police Department are CRIMINALS-Why are the poeple who made the false report still free? Most importantly Julian was not armed and the cop who shot him knew that at the time and knows that now- he is a murderer and should be put in jail for life.

How would you know the police report was false? Do you really think cops would purposely take a false police report knowing it to be false and act on it? If you do you're in some dreamland where OJ is innocent and the KKK gives out scholarships to minorities. So you are also saying that the police department conspired to commit murder on behalf of the robbery victims too? MAN, that's a stretch and you know it. Calling the police criminals is also something out there in space. Obviously you were close to Julian, I understand your hurt feelings, but wait for the truth. Maybe Julian was not carrying a weapon, maybe he made a furtive movement, i.e., reaching somewhere he should have not. I wasn't there and neither were you. If you don't trust the BPD, then hire a private eye and see what they come up with. I bet it would be pretty close to what the DA's investigation reveals. But to rile against the PD is not constructive and shows your emotional state of mind. At 12:30 in the morning I bet there wasn't many, if any, witnesses. Maybe there's a video on one of the police cars. You know...Technology.

The facts out right now alone show the police did conspire and are criminals and are now panicking. Not only is the DA doing an investigation so is the Brea PD.

Based on the info the police have put out the made up robbery was at 8:15 then three hours later people who made up the robbery came into the police department and said they got robbed at gunpoint and knew who did and it where he lives, what a coincidence. The shooting occured at approximatley 12:25 if you do the math that is less than an hour- the police knew this was not true and rushed out there like cowboys. If you beleive the Police to be competent then they are the biggest idiots in the world and you should be scared for your safety as anyone can lie about you and within an hour the cops will be out to get you. Also they cannot hide behind stupidity they knew the truth and are trigger happy cowboys who will get their day of Justice in Court! Julian was unarmed and had no criminal record!

Well, the police are not panicking. They can't say anything while there's an ongoing investigation that can last for the better part of a year. There's probably a good reason the crime was reported 3 hours after it occurred. Actually it was probably sooner than that, but that is what's reported. If you were a victim of a, let's say, robbery and you identified the suspect. Wouldn't you like the police to go out to the suspect's house and surveil it until more investigation is done? Like waiting for a warrant or some other legal avenue? I bet you would. That doesn't make them incompetent, just smart. Yes, anyone can lie about anything. Even here, but even if they do lie about what I did or didn't do, I still would comply with commands given to me by the police and later, figure out what was going on. Having a lack of a criminal record does not preclude anyone from the capability to do bad things. Remember, even if someone is unarmed at the time, sometimes cops don't really know that. They have to take into account the previous actions of a suspect and what is unfolding in front of them.

Hey anonymous who thinks Julian's shooting was justified, why don't you man up and tell us who you are. Maybe you are one of the three cowards that made a false report that ended with a man's death. Based on your comments you are obviously hiding behind what you think is protection and if you ever find yourself in the same situation or someone close to you, may you know what it's like to have no empathy for the pain of losing a loved one. Julian deserved his day in court that is afforded to the most hardened criminals, like child molesters, serial killers, murderers and serial assholes, like maybe you. It's hard to believe that you would feel that shooting an unarmed man is justified because he is alleged to have robbed someone for an Ipod. What should we do with child molesters then? What do you suggest? What does someone like you think a real criminal should suffer? You're definitely not a product of a normal childhood or worse, you are the cause of this horrendous tragedy. Julian is treasured and loved by many many people. I would bet you are not!

I think that the Brea PD should have done more investigating before trekking out to Yorba Linda all trigger happy... Why on earth would anybody rob someone they knew at gun point? Explain that one to me genius?! Julian was a sweet, kindhearted and genuine person and this shooting was not justified... How dare you speak against him when you were not fortunate enough to know such a brilliant person.. Obviously you are naive enough to believe what you read and what you are told.... Its people like you that George Orwell wrote about in 1984... Maybe you should educate yourself more on the power of being brainwashed by the media and government... let me guess you also agree with the shooting that took place on New Years 2009 in Oakland... No justice for the falsely accused? How sick and demented is that... I say Justice for Julian.. may he rest in peace

RIP JULES. Who knows what happened that night? He might have deserved a good tasering but not murder.

Here's what we KNOW:
1) Julian and Adelle were adicted to drugs.
2) In an effort to score dope something went afoul. ALLEDGEDLY they used a gun to rob the victims of IPOD'S and CASH (sources contridict that and say 4 OXY pills and $40 bucks that was paid for dope was taken back. DRUG DEAL GONE BAD.
3) The victims decide to teach JC and the girl a lesson and after three hours DRIVE 12 miles to Brea PD and file a report.
4) Brea detectives run Julians info and go to his hous, accompianied by two BW cruisers who are positioned down the street. While waiting for a warrant.
4) Julian exits the house on a Del Taco run after midnight. He see's the cops and FREAKS OUT. He tries to run back into the house. A uniformed officer (O'Malley) draws down and tells him to FREEZE. While running his pants are falling down. He tries to pull them up and O'malley panicks and empties a single rifle/shotgun slug into the UNARMED Julian.
5) Paramedics are called, the Dad and Mom run out of the house and are imediatley detained.
6) the area is searched and NO WEAPONS are recovered. His Vehicle is searched, NO weapons are recovered.
7) The warrant is delivered and the house is searched shortly after 6:00 AM where two guns are found locked in gun safe. One is a semi-auto pistol matching the alledged robbery weapon. It is registered and leagal. It looks like 12 million other handguns in the US.
8) Adelle, who was in the house at the time of the shooting is identified and arrested. She is taken into custody but not charged.
9) as the circumstances surrounding the shooting emerge (unarmed man gunned down) she is charged with 10 felonies, based on the BPD's report to the DA.
10) She is rotting in county jail with SEVERE herion Withdrawls RIGHT NOW.
11) The officer (O'Malley) was desked for three days and is now back on patrol.

NO MATTER what one thinks of a strung out live at home 25 year old. That does not constitute a DEATH SENTENCE. If he happened to be black, there would be riots. But instead, Yorba Linda and Brea will let it go.

Anonymous v Anonymous...interesting how you have all the answers to this but the BPD has released essentially nothing. Especially you, anonymous, who cowers behind an anonymous name and boldly claims that the shooting was justified. You are clearly very naive, and it is you, actually, who is living in a dreamworld.

And, as far as what "we KNOW," be honest, that list is only what YOU THINK. Were you at the 'drug deal'? Your claim that Julian was addicted to drugs is exaggerated and only shows your ignorance to the situation. Were you at the shooting? Did you see him run? Did you see his pants falling? How do you when the paramedic was called? And, finally, how do you know the officer's name when the BPD is hiding the police report? To repeat what another anonymous said, you will hear the truth, and nobody will be 'eating crow' but the bpd. Ultimately, what we do KNOW for sure, is that a young man's life was taken far too soon, by violent means, by an officer of bpd--this is not justified, this is murder.

Randy, thank you covering this story, I look forward to your continued updates.

Why would they pretend that they got robbed at gunpoint? Yeah they took a few hours to file the police report..they say julian took one of their house keys and was threatening to kill one of their families unless he gave him some shit. supposedly thats when they went to the cops..when it was taken too far. If thats true, who wouldnt go to the cops in that situation? He shouldnt have been shot but he also shouldnt have been involved in that situation at all.

maybe if so many people in this city werent so busy smoking oxycontin, being disgusting FIENDS this kind of shit wouldnt happen.

This was a tragic..but what about the young girl? This was all about addiction, look where it took these two young adults.. I know Adelea..she didn't plan on prostitution or a crime like robbing peolpe at gun point. But that's where drugs take people.. Julian was part of this mess and none of it would have happend if drugs wrer not a part of there lives.. He paid the ultimate price.. And I don't belive the Brea cop that shot him is any less a victim than Julian..he has to live with the fact he took a life.. And if drug addiction was not involved he to would not have to live with that trama.. My heart goes out to the Collender family.. I hope they can turn this into a positve by helping drug addicts get clean.. Save just one life so Julians was not in vain..
