Sacramento, CA:
Late counted votes from the June California Primary election now shows that Assemblyman Mike Villines has overtaken political newbie Brian Fitzgerald in the GOP fight to become the nominee for Insurance Commissioner.
Fitzgerald has made headlines for spending less than $6,000 on his statewide campaign, and has banked a ton of "free" support from wildly popular KFI-AM Talk Radio hosts John Kobylt and Ken Champiou on their afternoon "John and Ken Show."
Villines now lead Fitzgerald by less than 2/10th of a percentage point, or 2,746 votes. There are still more votes to be tabulated, so this "ping pong" lead change between these two candidates could go back and forth. BTW. Look for a recount....yep. This ain't over.....
CA GOP INSURANCE
COMMISSIONER NOMINATION
Brian Fitzgerald 845,187 49.9%
Mike Villines 847,933 50.1%
