Los Cerritos Community News was the first news agency in Southern California to report on the brutal double murder of two lifeless bodies found in shallow graves in vacant lots in Long Beach and Norwalk. Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has filed murder charges in the deaths of Gloria Villalta, 58, and Jose Lara, 51, the couple who was killed and placed in two different shallow graves in vacant lots near Metropolitan State Hospital, and in Long Beach, near Atlantic and Artesia Boulevard. A 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend were arraigned on Friday on special circumstance murder charges after the pair allegedly killed the girl’s parents over ongoing friction that included friction over her dating her boyfriend, the District Attorney’s office announced. The teens, both from Compton, are being charged as adults. Cynthia Alvarez, and Giovanni Gallardo, are charged in case TA120456 with two counts each of murder with the special circumstances of lying in wait and multiple murders, said Deputy District Attorney Todd Hicks. Each is being held without bail. Because of their ages, prosecutors will not seek the death penalty. However, if convicted, each faces life in prison without possibility of parole. Prosecutors said the teens allegedly killed the girl’s mother, Villalta, and her stepfather, Lara, sometimes between Oct. 13 and 15 in the family’s Compton home. The pair allegedly attacked the mother first when she arrived home from work, killing her. They then allegedly hid the body and waited for the father to come home. When he arrived, they allegedly hit him repeatedly with a baseball bat and stabbed him. The teens then allegedly loaded the bodies in a car and dumped the bodies in shallow graves in separate areas, one along Norwalk Boulevard and the other along Artesia Boulevard near Atlantic. Hicks said police discovered the woman’s body Saturday in a shallow grave in a vacant lot in Norwalk. The man’s body was discovered Thursday in a shallow grave in a lot near Jordan High School in Long Beach.
