Judge Terry Bork sentenced Chelsea McClelland, who operated a day-care facility in South Los Angeles, to state prison and ordered her to register has a sex offender for the rest of her life. Deputy District Attorney Elena Camaras with the Sex Crimes Division prosecuted the case. McClelland pleaded no contest on Aug. 2 to two felony counts of lewd act on a child under 14. The incidents occurred between Dec. 1 and Dec. 17, 2010. In exchange for her plea, two additional counts of lewd act on a child were dismissed today. LAPD's West Bureau sexual assault detail arrested McClelland in December after they found her and the boy, who had just turned 13, having sex in a white van parked near the Santa Monica Freeway and La Brea Avenue. Police responded to the area after neighbors reported suspicious activity.
