REMEMBERING ASHTON SWEET: Irvine teenager dies from injuries. Taken off life support today at 2 p.m. (UPDATE: IRVINE POLICE ISSUE OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON CASE and ARREST OF SUSPECT AUSTIN FARLEY!)

UPDATE AT 5:19 P.M.

The Irvine Police Department has just issued the following statement in regards to the passing of Ashton Street and updated details of the case.

UPDATE AT 5:21 p.m.

IRVINE, CA (May 31, 2011): Irvine Police are investigating an early morning traffic collision which resulted in five persons being transported to local hospitals including one patient in very grave condition. The collision occurred at the intersection of Culver Drive and Irvine Boulevard. This release is intended to supplement the previous releases.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON Update on condition of Ashton Sweet

This afternoon, Irvine Police Traffic Investigators were informed by the Orange County Sheriff /Coroner’s Office that Ashton Sweet was declared deceased. As previously reported, Ashton’s parents had made the determination to allow for organ donation.

No other details regarding the traffic collision are available. The arrestee in this case, Austin Farley, remains in-custody pending his arraignment. Farley’s bail has been set at one million dollars. No booking photo is available at this time.

Sad news to report. Ashton Sweet, the vivacious cheerleader from Northwood High School has died from her injuries she suffered over the weekend in a tragic car accident. She was only 14 years old.

The Orange County Coroner just released official notification about the teenagers passing. According to the Coroner Ashton passed away at 2 p.m. this afternoon, around three hours ago. She died at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and the official cause of death was due to injuries she suffered in a car accident at the corner of Culver and Irvine Blvd in Irvine. More details later. Please pause and say a Prayer for Ashton and her family and many, many friends!

I suspect he got an "early start" and there are numerous rapes of children 14 and under in this case.
