GABE BEN-MEIR: MTV EMPLOYEE MURDERED
His body was found by a passerby who was walking his dog early Sunday morning.  Ben-Meir suffered a fatal bullet shot in the back of his head.

Ben Meir had just recently moved into the popular Mid-Wilshire enclave.

Incredibly, residents reported hearing gunshots after midnight on Sunday, but no one called the police to report hearing the shots.

In case you are reading this post from New York or outside the United States, the Wilshire "corridor" is one of the most populated areas Los Angeles.  Ben-Meir's body was found on Packard Street between Stanley and Spaulding avenues at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

According to music industry newspapers, Ben-Meir was well loved and well respected at MTV, according to co-workers and friends.  He comes from a well connect musical family. Sister, Alexis Ben-Meir, is a well-known figure in the music business who has worked at MCA Records, Suretone Records and is currently at Red Light Management and father, Nick Ben-Meir, is a longtime business manager who has represented musicians.

If he was shot at 1am, it's incredulous that he was not seen sprawled on the street until 6am. I am right around the corner, people walk these streets constantly with their dogs even late at night which is what I used to do sometime back before I realized that was not too smart. I will bet you at least a couple of people had ran into him and chose not to get involved. This neighborhood is not as harmless as the interviewed residents have made it sound. Strange things happen around here. A few years ago, my Volvo was stolen from right in front of my house. Then I moved away. I had to move back in a couple of years ago due to divorce. First thing I did was raise my gate posts so I could create a hedge wall and high lockable gates. However, recently, a t-shirt had been dumped on my property in the narrow space between the hedge and the low wall and my sprinkler had been pulled out like it was going to be used as a weapon. Someone must have hidden in the tight space, changed shirt, and was evading whomever. I have no choice. Have to live here. I just do not walk around the neighborhood. Sad.
