MEMPHIS FLOODS: All Shelby County residents should take flood precautions NOW and be prepared to leave homes and businesses.

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE BULLETIN - 
THE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM HAS BEEN ACTIVATED IN THE MEMPHIS/SHELBY COUNTY AREA.
 
FLOOD WARNING

ALL SHELBY RESIDENTS SHOULD WRAP UP PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AND BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE...ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE WITHIN THE 100 YEAR FLOOD PLAIN OF RIVERS AND STREAMS. BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE HOMES AND BUSINESSES WHEN FLOODING OCCURS.

RECORD FLOODING IS FORECAST ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AS IT BORDERS SHELBY COUNTY. DESPITE THE END OF RAINFALL...STREAMS AND TRIBUTARIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WOLF RIVER AND THE LOOSAHATCHIE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RISE DUE TO BACKWATER FROM THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SHELBY COUNTY MAYOR MARK H. LUTTRELL...THIS IS THE TIME TO GATHER ALL IMPORTANT ITEMS AND BE READY TO LEAVE YOUR PROPERTY. THERE IS A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY PORTIONS OF SHELBY COUNTY COULD BE AFFECTED BY THE RISING WATERS.

Important: A four-ton weight limit remains in effect for the Raleigh Millington Road bridge over the Loosahatchie River. Large trucks will need to continue to detour onto Singleton Parkway to access the north approach to the city limits of Memphis.

Law Enforcement/Fire-Rescue

• Memphis Police are limiting access to Mud Island. Only people who live and work on Mud Island are being allowed to cross A.W. Willis Bridge
• If streets are closed, do not go around or move barricades
• Law enforcement officers will issue citations to those who disregard the blocked-off roads.
• Motorists should not park along bridges to sight-see.
• Officers, deputies and firefighters are monitoring road conditions and calling in submerged areas to be barricaded
