What a great moment for India.

The biggest celebration of all will be tonight in Mumbai, where Cricket star Sachin Tendulkar is currently being carried around the field on the shoulders of his team-mates.

India has just won the 2011 Cricket World Cup Finals, and this is the first year that I actually followed this sport and I am thrilled to now call myself a "cricketeer."

This is the first year that I have followed the Cricket World Cup, and India has just bested rival Sri Lanka for the 2011 title. It is NOW OVER!

India has beaten Sri Lanka!

INDIA WIN BY SIX WICKETS AND WIN THE 2011 WORLD CUP

Incredible match to follow. I have been watching a live stream on the internet, since no cable network here on the West Coast of the United States actually covered the match live.

BBC India is having live updates.

I can't imagine the joy that must be filling the streets and neighborhoods around both India and Sri Lanka right now.  BTW.  Artesia, California (the heart of my hometown of Cerritos) is the home to Little India here in the United States.  Pioneer Boulevard will be full of joy and excitement today!  What a proud moment!

I think he was saying it seemed a bit predictable having both the hosts in the final. They may have been the best teams and they both performed pretty professionally in the final but having an outsider or underdog in there makes it more interesting and gives you someone to back as a neutral.
