TARLAC CITY, Philippines

A tragic death of a teen superstar in The Philippines has sent a shock wave through this tight knit, entertainment crazed island nation.

Television actor Antonilo Joseph Perez, better known as AJ Perez, and one of the stars in the popular Filipino drama series "Sabel," was killed when the van he was in slammed into a bus.

The accident took place in Moncada, Tarlac. Five people were also injured.  Tarlac died at a nearby hospital.

As my readership knows, I live in Cerritos, California just outside of downtown Los Angeles.

Cerritos has one of the largest and most influential  Filipino-American communities outside of Manila.

AJ Perez has a huge following here. I am sure that his death will sadden many here in our area.

It is being reported that Perez and his entourage were traveling to the Metro Manila when they met the accident along the MacArthur Highway in Barangay San Julian, Moncada happened. Perez’s group came from a show in Dagupan City.

The victims were taken by their companions on another vehicle to the Rayos Valentin Hospital in Paniqui town but doctors there failed to revive Perez.

He was 17 at the time of his passing.  If you have a comment about AJ, and his passing, and are in The Philippines, please share your thoughts to my readers....
