SAMIR ALLAN: Man held in connection with robbery at Costco in Cypress

A local man is in custody after he "allegedly" robbed the Costco Store over on Katella Avenue in Cypress yesterday.

I literally just got back from doing a "Costco run" to this very same store.

Here are the details from the Cypress Police Department on the arrest of the suspect Samir Allan on robbery charges.

On Thursday, November 18, 2010, at approximately 12:54 pm, Cypress Police Officers responded to the Costco store located at 5401 Katella Ave. reference a possible armed robbery. Dispatchers advised that store security approached a male shoplifter outside the store and the suspect pulled what appeared to be a knife and threatened the employee.

The suspect fled in a vehicle westbound on Katella from Costco with store merchandise. Witnesses were able to obtain a good vehicle description and that description was transmitted to all Cypress, Los Alamitos and Seal Beach police units. A Cypress Police Services Officer spotted the get-away vehicle at Los Alamitos Blvd and Katella and Los Alamitos police officers assisted with a felony car stop on the northbound 605 freeway just before Carson.

The suspect was positively identified by store security and witnesses, and the stolen property, several video games valued at $150, was recovered. No one was injured in the robbery incident.

The suspect, Samir Allan was arrested and charged with robbery (PC 211). He was transported to the Cypress City Jail where he was booked and held on bail. He was eventually transferred to the Orange County Jail. Mr. Samir’s arraignment at the West Justice Center is tentatively scheduled for Monday, November 22, 2010.

Bottom line. Don't even think about robbing the Costco in Cypress. You probably won't get away with it.
