San Francisco Attorney General Election Kamala Harris is now inching closer to becoming the next top law enforcement official here in the Golden State. Several thousand more votes were counted today, and she now holds a 31,483 lead over Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley.

More bad news for Cooley, today it was reported that he is now facing an "investigation" by the Fair Political Practices Commission for expecting gifts over the legal limit allotted for elected officials here in California.

State law requires public officials to disclose gifts exceeding $50 unless the gift is not used, is returned to the donor or is given to a charity; it also caps the value of gifts from any individual to an elected official at $420 a year.

Not sure why the FPPC is revealing this now....but....hey....its politics...California style.
