VAN NUYS

The hunt for a killer is heating up in Southern California.

On Wednesday, capital murder charges were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office against Omar Armando Loera in the death of Cheree Osmanhodzic of North Hollywood.

Loera, 34, is now "officially" accused of fatally stabbing Osmanhodzic during a burglary at her North Hollywood home, then setting the residence on fire.  Loera (dob 12-2-1976) was charged on Wednesday  in a felony complaint for an arrest warrant (#LA 066039) with the following violent crimes:
  • One count of murder
  • One Count of Felony burglary
  • Felon Arson
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
The complaint alleged the defendant used a knife to commit the crimes and listed the special circumstances of murder during a burglary and arson.

Loera was accused of fatally stabbing the Cheree Osmanhodzic, 34, on July 24, 2010, after returning to the Valley Village home she shared with her fiancé. She had been shopping for a wedding dress with her mother and fiancé, according to authorities.

After dropping her off, her fiance' went for groceries, authorities said. When he returned, there was a man in home. The fiancé chased the man, but could not catch him. He returned home to find it on fire. The victim’s body was found on the bedroom floor. She had been stabbed to death.

Los Angeles police held a news conference yesterday to announce that they were seeking Loera. They presented the evidence against Loera to the District Attorney’s office late yesterday and the case was filed in Van Nuys this morning.

Deputy District Attorney Bobby Grace of the Major Crimes Division will prosecute Loera once he is arrested.   Although filed as a capital case, the District Attorney’s office will not decide whether to seek the death penalty until the case moves closer to trial.

Loera had been released early from state prison, where he was serving time for armed robbery. So where the hell is Loera?  If you have a clue, call 911 and help bring this man to justice.
