The Extended Stay Hotel in La Mirada was a wild scene this morning.

One man is dead from injuries he suffered from a "taser stun gun" administered by deputies after an "altercation" in the hotel parking lot.

Norwalk/La Mirada Sheriff's are claiming that they were attacked before they "tasered" the man who attacked them in the hotel parking lot off of Firestone Boulevard at the Firestone Frontage Road.

Here are the details of the situation from records from the LA County Sheriff's Department and from other media outlets:
  •  48-year-old man is dead after being "tazed" by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly attacked and threatened to kill them at the Extended Days Hotel here in La Mirada.
  • Two deputies were patrolling the area near Firestone Boulevard and the 5 Freeway in La Mirada just before 1 a.m. on Saturday morning and found two men acting "strangely" when they were with a dog behind a pickup truck in the parking lot.
  • As one of the men put the dog into the cab of the truck, he elbowed one of the deputies and tried to knock the other down before running away.
  • Deputies chased him through the parking lot as he zig-zagged between parked cars and appeared to reach for his waistband, leading them to believe he was armed.
  • The victim then allegedly "attacked" the deputies a second time, knocking each of them to the ground and trying to disarm one of them during the struggle.
  • The deputies said the man threatened to kill them before one of the deputies shot him with a Taser stun gun to subdue and handcuff him.
  • The man became unresponsive and deputies administered CPR until paramedics arrived.
  • The man died at a local hospital.
  • The name of the man killed has not been released due to pending notification of family members.
As in all officer-involved deaths, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, the sheriff's Internal Affairs Bureau and the Office of Independent Review also responded to monitor the investigation.
