SACRAMENTO, CA -- Tributes continue to come in from all over California and the US in honor of slain El Monte School Board Member Augustin "Bobby" Salcedo.
Senator Gloria Romero (D – East Los Angeles), Chair of the Senate Education Committee, led the California State Senate in honoring the memory of Bobby Salcedo this week. Salcedo, a native of El Monte, was an assistant principal and served on the El Monte City School District board. He was killed last week while on vacation in Mexico after gunmen stormed a restaurant where he was dining with his wife and friends.
“Bobby Salcedo was an incredible educator and community leader. His bright light was darkened far too soon and I hope that his killers will soon be brought to justice,” said Romero.
State Senator Gil Cedillo also paid tribute to Bobby Salcedo on the floor of the State Senate this week. He called him a political star on the rise who could have gone "all the way to the top."
