Funeral for El Monte School official Bobby Salcedo will be officiated by Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony and include broadcast via Internet -- Thursday at 10 a.m. at Nativity Church

The family of slain El Monte School Board Member Augustin Bobby Salcedo have announced the details of a Rosary, Funeral and Reception that will be held in his memory, and it also includes a live broadcast via the world wide web.

Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony will officiate the funeral Mass.

This following information was posted on the El Monte Unified High School District web site at http://www.emuhsd.k12.ca.us/ by Superintendent Nick Salerno.

The Rosary will be conducted tonight (Wednesday), 1/6/10 at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity Church on Tyler Avenue just north of Valley Blvd. and railroad tracks.  The address of the Church is 3743 Tyler Avenue, El Monte, CA 91731-2099,  (626) 444-2511.

Mass and Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 7th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity Church and then burial will occur at the famed Resurrection Cemetery. 

A Reception will follow at  1:30-5:00 p.m. at Grace Black Auditorium on Tyler Avenue, located next to El Monte High School.

Here is more on the life of Mr. Salcedo:
Bobby Salcedo served the District as Assistant Principal for Instruction at El Monte High School, an assignment he assumed this past September. After graduating from Mountain View High School in 1994, Bobby continued his education at California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a specialization in the history of the United States and Latin America. While earning his degree, Bobby worked as a program assistant in the Cal-SOAP program at Mountain View High School promoting the value of higher education and assisting students with college forms and financial aid documents. In 1998, Bobby began his teaching career in the Social Science Department at South El Monte High School. He was highly regarded as an excellent role model and an enthusiastic teacher. In 2004 Bobby earned his Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Administration at California State University, San Bernardino. That year he also was promoted to Assistant Principal of Activities at South El Monte High School, a position he would hold for two years before moving to his alma mater, Mountain View High School, as Assistant Principal for Instruction. In addition to his commitment to the El Monte Union High School District, Bobby was extremely active in the community. He had just been re-elected to the Board of Trustees of the El Monte City School District for his second term. Bobby was currently working on his doctorate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles.
