Los Angeles County Assessor John R. Noguez, jailed since Oct. 17 on dozens of felony counts ranging from accepting bribes to money laundering,  is back in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom today trying to get  his $1.16 million bail reduced.
Noguez is being held at the Men’s Central Jail on Bauchet Street and he is not being allowed visitors with the exception of his legal representatives. Sources within law enforcement have told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper that Noguez is still in “solitary confinement” at least 23 hours per day and is only allowed to take three showers per week.
“He is being treated like any other inmate,” District Attorney Steve Cooley told Los Cerritos Community Newspaper in an interview.
Noguez, whose legal name is Juan Reynaldo Rodriguez, was arrested on October 17 at 8:30 a.m. at his home in Huntington Park, after a long criminal probe that was first revealed publically by Los Cerritos Community Newspaper. Sources close to the case who do not want to be identified tell LCCN that the 47-year old Noguez may face additional felony counts.
