Dead body found on Angeles Crest Highway is NOT GAVIN SMITH. So who is this victim?

I called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (Media folks) this morning and asked them if they thought that the dead body found on Angeles Crest Highway was that of missing movie executive Gavin Smith.

The answer: No.

Here is an "official" statement from the LASD:

"At approximately 5:15 Thursday morning (05/10/2012) morning, a passing motorist saw a body lying on the side of the roadway next to the guard rail on Angeles Crest Highway at mile marker 27.50. Although detectives found ballistic evidence at the scene, the victim's injuries are unknown at this time.

The cause of death as well as the victim's identity will be determined by Los Angeles County Coroner personnel. Missing person Gavin Smith has been ruled out as the victim in this investigation. There is no more information available at this time."

So, who is the victim? Dunno. Stay tuned.
