An 81-year old Cerritos man suffering from Alzheimer’s, and who uses a four legged aluminum walker to get around has been found by law enforcement after wandering nearly seven miles into the Orange County community of Cypress.
According to Cerritos Sheriff Deputy Tom Hicks, concerned family members noticed that their elderly, nearly immobile family member was not inside their east side Cerritos home and immediately searched outside and into the surrounding neighborhood to see if he could be location.
The wandering man, only described as an “Asian male” somehow eluded law enforcement during an intense search effort that also including the deployment of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter that made announcements around the Cerritos, Artesia area for more than one hour.
The missing man with the walker was coincidental found at Walker Street and Lincoln Avenue in Cypress.
Hicks said that a woman called law enforcement and said that a man “with a walker” was “limping” and looked like he needed assistance. The man has been check by medical officials and has been returned to his Cerritos home as of 4:30 p.m. His name has not been made public to the community.
