I am a total "Trader Joe" fan, and lets face it, just about everyone here in Southern California has some sort of TJ favorite product. Love the blueberries and fresh fruits here at the Cerritos location.

I am also a tad "lazy" and like "salad in the bag" instead of chopping up piece after piece.  Well, I just heard on NBC LA tonight that a "major recall" was announced by Trader Joe's today and it covers two major brands of bagge4d lettuce products.

Trader Joe's Romaine Salad and Trader Joe's Very American Salad is now being recalled.  Here is the official notice:

"We have been alerted by our supplier of Trader Joe's Romaine Salad (SKU 13214) and Trader Joe's Very American Salad (SKU 20722) for our West Coast stores* that there is a possibility that product with Use By Date of November 18, 2011 may cause a serious food-borne illness In accordance with our stringent health and safety standards and as an extreme precaution, all of the potentially affected products have been removed from sale and destroyed. To date, we have received no reports of illness related to these products.

If you purchased Trader Joe's Romaine Salad and/or Trader Joe's Very American Salad with the specified use by date, please do not eat them. You may return the product to any Trader Joe's for a full refund or dispose of it. "
