Hill Fire in the Cajon Pass up to 1100 acres, 5 structures destroyed or damaged


Here is the latest OFFICIAL UPDATE about the HILL FIRE in the CAJON PASS.  Stay tuned. Traffic is a total nightmare on the road to Las Vegas.

 Incident Overview
The Hill Fire is in Cajon Pass south of Oak Hills. Limited lane openings are occuring on I-15 southbound and all but one lane of northbound I-15 is open. Lanes may close periodically due smoke. Motorists are advised to avoid Cajon Pass as traffic will be heavy throughout the night. Structures are threatened in the Oak Hills Area and 1 home has been heavily damaged, 2 mobile homes were lost and 2 other structures were damaged. Mandatory evacuations are in place south of Joshua, east of Baldy Mesa Ave., and west of I-15.

DC-10 has arrived and is making restardant drops on the fire. At least one home is heavily damaged, 2 mobile homes destroyed and 2 other structures were damaged.

Outlook

Remarks
One firefighter evacuated out for a medical emergency. A second firefighter suffered heat exhaustion. Resources on the fire include 50 fire engines, 4 dozers, 4 helicopters, 14 airtankers (including the DC-10) and handcrews.
