Landmark Cerritos eatery “Off Street Café” will be reopened this weekend after intense 30-hour makeover compliments of famed Food Network chef Robert Irvine and the popular reality show “Restaurant Impossible.”
Irvine and his crew have been here since Wednesday working around the clock to modernize the aging eatery and to refocus the Off Street staff, cooks and staff on everything from customer service skills, to reservation tips, and to redo the interior décor and most importantly the menu.

On Thursday morning, LCCN Publisher Brian Hews, Editor Jerry Bernstein and Staff Reporter Randy Economy were part of a handful of local customers to partake in the “last meal” ever served at the Artesia Boulevard restaurant that is located across from Gahr High School.
The three served as “food critics” for this shooting of this episode of the reality show.

Irvine was pumped with emotion on Thursday as he listened to negative customer reactions at the restaurant.
Irvine, an imposing figure, who looks like a heavyweight body builder than a food chef, was shouting orders to the Off Street staff and management, and even took a full plate of food and threw it on the carpet to emphasis his personal “objection” to the cafés bill of fare.
“We are going to make this restaurant over from the carpet to the ceiling,” Irvine said.
So, what can patrons expect from the new “Off Street Café” coming Friday night, this weekend, and down the road?
“Wait and see a new chapter of Off Street begins now” he proclaimed.

Due to recent media coverage by the Los Cerritos Community of the “Restaurant Impossible” make over, hundreds of reservations for the opening weekend have already been made. “The days of having empty tables available here are over,” Irvine said.
