SAN FERNANDO – A parolee suspected of leading police on a high-speed chase across two counties over a three-hour period Saturday night was charged today with felony evading police.
Michael Andrew Martinez, 29 (dob 10-30-81), is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at San Fernando Superior Court, Department S, said Deputy District Attorney Karen Rizzo. He is charged in case PA070989.
Martinez allegedly was driving a 2011 black Hyundai when he refused to pull over during a routine traffic stop by LAPD near Corbin and Saticoy avenues in the San Fernando Valley. The pursuit from Los Angeles County, into Riverside County, then back into Los Angeles County over several major freeways ended about 11:30 p.m. on the northbound Golden State Freeway. A female passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
Martinez, who is on parole for an identity theft case, is being held on $120,000 bail. If convicted, he faces up to four years in state prison.
