SANTIAGO, CHILE --
Mother Nature is causing quite a stir in Chile today.
A volcano that has been dormant for decades erupted in south-central Chile, that has sent an ash cloud more than 6 miles high over the Andes.
Fanned by winds, ash darkened the sky in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, a government official there said, adding the city's airport had been closed.
Image via WikipediaThe eruption in the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcanic chain, about 575 miles south of the capital, Santiago, in Patagonia also prompted Chilean authorities to shut a heavily traveled border crossing into Argentina. One witness said it is like "day just became night" within minutes.
Amazing videos of the Pulehue-Cordon Caulle volcano are hitting you tube including this one that I posted here on my blog....
