NORWALK -
A Norwalk resident was critically injured late Sunday afternoon after the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a center median.
He lost control and was thrown several feet in the air, according to members of the Norwalk Sheriff's Department.
The accident occurred at around 4 p.m. at the area of Norwalk Boulevard and Pantheon Avenue. The injured man, who's name has not yet been released, was airlifted to County USC Hospital where he is await surgery as of the posting. According to Lt. Josie Woolum with the Norwalk Sheriff's Department, the victim was not wearing an authorized helmet from the California Department of Transportation and he suffered "major head trauma."
No evidence that drugs or alcohol played any factors into the accident. "He was travelling south on the boulevard when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson and struck the center median and was thrown from the motorcycle," Lt. Woolum said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. As soon as I get an update from the Sheriff's Department, I will update this post.

Lt. Woolum said that the injuries may have been lessened if the individual would have been wearing an authorized helmet. He is described as a male in his late 30's. As of 5:45 p.m. in critical condition awaiting surgery, and there is no indication that the manNo evidence that drugs or alcohol played any factors into the accident.
