LOS ANGELES – A 26-year-old Sylmar man was charged today with murder and attempted murder after he allegedly ran a ca over his brother and father following a domestic dispute, the District Attorney’s office announced. Martin Martinez, (dob 1-16-85), is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Department 30, said Deputy District Attorney June Chung with the Family Violence Division. Prosecutors will ask that bail for Martinez, charged in case BA385366, be set at $2 million. On Tuesday, Martinez allegedly got into an argument with two of his brothers at the family residence. He later was behind the wheel of a vehicle when he allegedly drove the vehicle at one of his brothers, hitting him and also his father. The father died at the scene. His brother suffered fractures to both legs. If convicted, Martinez faces 28 years to life in prison.
