A local Cypress police motorcycle officer was involved in an serious accident Friday afternoon in an incident that is one deja vu' two many.
The officer, who's name has not been released by officials, received some broken bones after his motorcycle was struck while he was traveling eastbound on Lincoln Avenue and Cobblestone Lane around 5 p.m.
The injured officer was rushed to a Long Beach area hospital, and according to Cypress Police spokesman  Robert Cody (who I just got off the phone with) said that the officer "should be okay" and is "resting tonight after suffering some broken bones, and cuts and bruises."
His name has not been released as of 11 p.m. Friday night and family is still be notified about the incident.  They will probably be releasing the name for the officer involved on Saturday or Sunday.  Incredibly the office that was involved in the accident had just finished participating in the funeral procession for Hawthorne motorcycle officer Andrew Garton, who died last week after he was killed while he coordinated traffic for another motorcycle officer who involved in another officer's funeral motorcade. According to Cody, the accident Friday evening happened just blocks away from where a funeral was held for Garton.
The situation is in being investigated by the La Palma Police Department, according to Cody. The accident occurred in La Palma which boarders Cypress.  "He was making a left hand turn and another vehicle ran into him, and he was thrown from his motorcycle," said Cody.
