(Update) Ali Saleh named new Mayor of Bell. Danny Harber selected as Vice Mayor on "new Bell City Council." Now, don't be the "tail" be the "dog." Vote was split 3-2.

New Bell Mayor Ali Saleh

The vote to make Ali Saleh the new Mayor of Bell, and Danny Harber the new Vice Mayor was on a split 3-2 vote.  City Council Members Nestor Valencia and Anna Maria Quintana voted "No."  This is actually amazing.  Why?  Because, Democracy is now the "rule" in Bell instead of a Rizzo Dictatorship.  Good Job....

Bell, Ca

Finally, the people of Bell have a new Mayor and Vice Mayor.  Recently sworn in councilman Ali Saleh was selected to serve as the new Mayor of Bell, and Danny Harber has been tabbed as the new Vice Mayor of Bell.

The new Mayor and Vice Mayor were selected a couple of hours ago at a packed Bell City Council Meeting.  The "reorganization" was the only two items on the City Council agenda.  Now the real work begins in trying to figure out how to keep Bell in business as a real "city."

I don't envy what lies ahead for this new city council.  Will the Bell Police Department be replaced by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department?  How much is Bell really in debt?  Will the new city council place policy before "political pressure?"

This is going to be fun to watch, and I will be peeking in with my "one eye."

ADVICE TO ALI and DANNY and NESTOR, VIOLETA, and ANNA MARIA:

Good Luck, Mayor Ali and Vice Mayor Danny and the rest of the NEW Bell City Council.

Remember one thing.

You are now in CHARGE of BELL.

The City Manager and City Attorney and the Chief of Police are YOUR EMPLOYEES.   They are NOT in CHARGE of BELL, you FIVE are NOW RESPONSIBLE and YOU WORK for the PEOPLE.

Don't be the "tail" be the "dog."

I do NOT envy all of the hard, real decisions that you will have to make during the next several weeks and months.

No more politics in Bell.  Time to get to work.
