Lakewood, CA
Time to break up the "old BOYS Club" that has dominated Lakewood City Hall for the past couple of generations.
Next week, the voters in the wonderful bedroom enclave nestled in the heart of Southeast Los Angeles County, will go to the polls to elect two members to their city council. Face it. This town needs a little "feminine" touch of leadership and this is the ELECTION to make this finally happen. This city council has been dominated by five men for far too long. Time to bring BALANCE, boys, and I have two great suggestions on how to make this happen.
I want to urge all of my readers and voters in Lakewood to proudly cast your two votes for Joy Jaynes and Marisa Perez for City Council.
JOY JANES
Joy Janes has been one of the most dedicated community leaders, volunteers, and community stalwarts in Lakewood for nearly 30 years. Joy is dynamic, determined, and is well suited for this office. A member of the city's Planning Commission, Joy also works for an area state assemblyman and understands the dynamics of local, state and federal issues. Joy Jaynes will help keep Lakewood clean, and keep crime down, and bring new focus to the city council. She has paid her dues, and NOW is time time to promote her to the City Council. A lifelong Democrat, Joy Janes has the political "street smarts" we need in local office.
I have seen her in action for at least 20 years, and Joy is the "real deal." She will make a great elected leader.
Marisa Perez |
MARISA PEREZ
I also recommend Marisa Perez for the Lakewood City Council.
Marisa and Joy Jaynes are "political polar" opposites, but that is exactly what makes her suited for this important office here in our community. Marisa is a rising star in the Republican world and would bring a sense of balance to city hall.
A self described "Lakewood mom," Marisa Perez has worked for over 14 years to make government work more effectively for citizens on all levels. A graduate from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Public Policy, Marisa worked for both former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan in the 90's, where she advised his on transportation issues and helped to balance multi-million dollar budgets. She then returned to her home state of Texas to work for then-governor George W. Bush, spearheading performance-based budgets and securing funds to improve infrastructure.
Marisa Perez, and Joy Jaynes are a "Political Odd Couple" for sure. But Lakewood needs new blood. They will be the tails that wag the dog, not the other way around like in most city halls that surround Lakewood these days.
I URGE the ELECTION of Marisa Perez and Joy Janes!!

Perez? Really? Take a look at where her money is coming from. All the Boys outside Lakewood. This smells fishy. She has no local endorsements and touts RINO Dick Riordan in a very partisan mailer. No Thanks. Not even for Room Mom.
Marisa Perez is a great choice for Lakewood City Council, she is a political outsider, all the other candidates are well connected with the money machine that controls the City of Lakewood. I will be voting for Marisa Perez for Lakewood City Council
Larry, that's your choice, and God Bless America that we can vote for who we want. Coming in 4th for Marisa will be a "moral victory". Hopefully one of the winning candidates will appoint her to a commission. It gets cold being on the "outside". We welcome her "in".
