An officer involved shooting in Lakewood tonight has left one man injured and a quiet neighborhood has been shaken to its core.

Lakewood Sheriff's officials responded to a "domestic dispute" between a man and his female companion while they were driving in a vehicle in the 3400 block of Fairman Street.

According to Sgt. Hutal from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station the incident took place at around 9 p.m.

When officers responded to the call, deputies followed the car onto Fairman Street. When the officers tried to detain the male suspect, who's identity has not been disclosed, is when the "officer related" shooting took place.

This entire situation unraveled on the "front" lawn of a dear friend of mine. Her Facebook posting at 8:50 p.m. included the following:

"There was just a police related shooting right in front of my house!!! I heard the shots! There are now 28 cop cars, 2 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, a police helicopter, and 100 officers on my lawn... They just put up yellow crime scene tape across my front lawn and told me to go inside because I was contaminating the crime scene. My neighborhood has never seen so much activity!! CRAZY!"

I am still following up.

Side note: Longtime Lakewood City Council Member Joe Esquivel lives on this same street as my friend, and the officer involved shooting took place right near his residence. More details to follow. Incredible. This is one of the safest areas in Lakewood.
