An outpouring of love and support in memory of Raul and Deborah Escobedo continues today. It was just six days ago when the popular, well loved, husband and wife were brutally killed in what appears to have been a murder-suicide done by their troubled adult son Mario.
Their tight-knit neighborhood is still coming to grips with what happened, and now they are preparing for their funeral and memorial services.

Also, a Memorial Fund has been established, as well as a website in honor of Raul and Debbie.  The website is located at http://escobedofamily.tumblr.com/

I want everyone to consider making a small donation in memory of Raul and Debbie. On the website, a Pay Pal account has been set up, and everyone is urged to make a small donation.  I pitched in $50 tonight, and want to challenge all of my readers to help.  Donate what you can.  Time to be a good neighbor. In situations like this, their is no such thing as a "stranger."  Time for everyone to reach out.

I wanted to also pass along my condolences to Monica and Michelle, the surviving daughters or Debbie and Raul's.  These two amazing ladies are going to need lots of support, and love, and so so much more during the next several days, weeks and months.  I cannot imagine the emotions that they are feeling, but I do know one thing for sure.  God is a Loving God.  Have Faith. Keep Strong. Remember the Power of Prayer. Breath.

Here is some more on Debbie and Raul:

Debbie and Raul, were still young — in their sixties.  They leave behind Monica, her sister Michelle, and three grandchildren, 7-year-old Brandon, 5-year-old Matthew, and 3-week-old Evan. At the moment, those left behind are in an American nightmare. But their family’s full story is filled with American dreams.  Both of Monica and Michelle’s parents were direct descendants of both Spain and Mexico.  Both were exceptionally well educated: Raul was a recently retired urban planner from Barrio Planners Inc. in East L.A. He brought his passion for design home, and worked to plan his gardens and make the Escobedo home a wonderful space for a family to grow up in. He was also a Vietnam vet who proudly wore an Army uniform. Debbie was a first-grade teacher at Magee Elementary School in Pico Rivera. She was passionate about being a first-grade teacher because that meant she got to be one of the very first people to instill so many valuable lessons. She taught a countless number of students how to read and always loved watchng the joy on their faces as they learned new things.
