OFFICER DAMIAN RAMOS: Former Long Beach Police Officer Pleads to Embezzlement, expect him to get a year in jail and three years probation.

Long Beach Police Department (California)Image via WikipediaLOS ANGELES – A former officer of the Long Beach Police Department pleaded guilty today to embezzlement, the District Attorney’s Office announced. Deputy District Attorney Alfred Coletta of the Justice System Integrity Division said Damian Ramos, 33, was ordered to return for sentencing on April 7 in Department 35 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Ramos is expected to be sentenced to 365 days in county jail and three years of formal probation under the terms of a negotiated settlement with the District Attorney’s Office. Ramos was charged in August 2010 after allegedly taking four firearms that were to be booked as property. Two firearms were recovered, the other two remain missing, the prosecutor said. Derrick Dinsmore, also a former Long Beach police officer, charged in case No. BA377416, is expected to be arraigned Feb. 15 in Department 134 on charges stemming from Ramos’ theft case.
