Man, I want to win the Lottery.
Yep, just one time.
Score big. (Not like Jackie and Gilbert Cisneros "BIG" ($266 Million last year from Pico Rivera).
I will settle for a small $6 or $7 million pot.
Love this feel good story tonight about a group of friends and co-workers at one of our local schools here in Montebello who hit it "SUPER BIG" and captured this weeks $12,000,000 Super Lottery. Sweet!
Call them the "Montebello 11."
The newest millionaires are employees at the Montebello Unified School District and all work at Bandini Elementary School.
Image via WikipediaThe co-workers have been playing together for nearly two years and are a mixture of full-time and part-time clerical workers. They all "pool" their money week in and week out and always buy their tickets at the same store, a local 7-11 in Whittier.
Well, it has finally paid off . Score one for the "good guys!"
Ramone Solis, the spokesperson of the winning group, said one of them urged him to check the numbers on their ticket after hearing that a jackpot-winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven where the group purchases their tickets. Solis visited a local retailer and scanned the ticket, confirming that it was the winner. Can you imagine? YIKES. Slurpees for the HOUSE! YAHOO!
“Members of the group had heard about a winning ticket being sold in Whittier so they were already assembled when I returned to confirm the win. We all jumped around the office screaming and celebrating!” said Solis.
Cynthia Magana, the member of the group who purchased the ticket, said she had a “good feeling” about the retailer and knew that some day they would win. “The owner of the 7-Eleven was so very nice and always wished me luck. His positive energy convinced me that I should continue buying tickets from him,” Magana said.
The group has decided to take the cash option, and they will be dividing up $7.1 million, that's around $630,000 in cold hard cash for each of the "Montebello 11."
The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven located at 10437 Whittier Boulevard in Whittier.
BTW. Here were the winning numbers: 34, 9, 7, 12, 44 and the Mega number is 2.
The retailer will receive a bonus of one-half percent, or $60,000, for selling the winning ticket. Sweet! What would you do if you won the Lottery? How would you handle your sudden fortunes? I bought 5 quick picks over at my Arco Station at Walker and South Street in La Palma. Crossing my fingers.
