More and more details are emerging regarding this weekends deadly crash along PCH in the OC, and it appears that a former star high school and Stanford University athlete may have caused the situation.
The investigation into that horrific and grizzly 10 car accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach on Saturday is now focused on the vehicle that was driven by Julia "Julie" Allen, according to both law enforcement and in an article in today's LA TIMES.
I have been sent numerous emails during the past two days from people claiming to be friends and past acquittance's with Allen, who according to records with the Orange County Coroners Office was 28 years old and a resident of Newport Beach.

We now know that Allen was a past standout high school and college athlete.
Several eyewitnesses to the crash (including many of my readers) say that the Ford Taurus Allen was driving down PCH at Riverside Drive was going at a high rate of speed, perhaps as much as 100 miles per hour when she collided with at least 10 other vehicles.
Allen was killed instantly as was Christopher De La Cruz, 49, of Laguna Niguel and Linda Burnett, 69, of Santa Ana. At least three others suffered injuries and one of them remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to the Stanford University Athletic Department web site, Allen was one of the best track and cross country runners for the Cardinal when she attended their during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. She is still listed as a "Red Shirt" Senior on the campus website.
She "red shirted" (meaning when a student athlete takes a year or two years off from competition due to medical, injury or scholastic ineligibility) in 2003.
The investigation continues. Several toxicology tests are being conducted. Not sure if drugs or alcohol played any role in this incident.

I can't believe this news. So so sad.
Do they know if the car had problems?
This was no accident - her life was falling apart, she got in a huge blow out fight with her dad at the home near Frogs on PCH, she jumped in the car, turned the corner and floored it until she hit something! No star in my book - just a plain old ordinary murderer.
To the above poster: Were you a good friend of Julie's? Did you talk to her before the crash?
BTW: Anyone got information on when the funeral is?
I knew Julie in High School. She was a great student and a good athlete. It's sad to hear this news, I had heard she was going thu some problems but wow...
She was also just fired from her job in Irvine.
