(DC) The mystery surrounding the death of Ashley Turton has gripped Washington DC for the past two days. An investigation is underway on the "cause" of her tragic death. Was foul play involved? We have now learned that Federal investigators have joined members of the Washington DC Police and Fire Departments in an "effort to examine why the trunk of a white BMW exploded into flames" early Tuesday morning at around 4:45 a.m. local time.

This situation has Washingtonians on edge. Bomb explosion experts are now on the case. Many of my friends who work on the "Hill" are following every development of this case.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a single vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality.

The Police Department from Washington DC issued this official media statement today:

"On Monday, January 10, 2011, at approximately, 4:45 am, the driver of a 2008 BMW X-5 crashed into the interior of a garage of a residence in the 800 block of A Street SE. After impact, a fire started and quickly engulfed the entire garage as well as the automobile. The driver was pronounced dead by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. The identity of the decedent is being withheld at this time, pending further identification." The Major Crash Investigations Unit, along with the DC Fire Department’s Arson Investigations Unit are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash and fire."

Stay Tuned.

Washington DC:

The nations capital was rocked with another tragedy this morning with the death of Ashley Turton, who was a  veteran Congressional aide and lobbyist. It is being reported that her body was found in her burning car.

Metropolitan Police Department of the District...Image via WikipediaTurton is the wife of  Dan Turton,  the White House’s deputy director of legislative affairs for the U.S. House.  She died at the scene that was located at 800 A Street, NE.

Ashley Turton was a popular and well loved member of the Capital Hill family.  She worked as an aide to former Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.). Later, she became a lobbyist for Progress Energy, a North Carolina-based utility company. So sad to see this happen.  Share your thoughts. Hit my comment section.

Soon before the merger between Duke and Progress Energy was to be announce, Ms. Turton got a hold of a series of emails between Ann Maynard Gray and Jim Rogers outlining the strategy to create a board that would favorite Mr. Rogers and would lead to the immidiate outsting of Mr. Johnson from the company. The emails detailed the importance to silence Mr. Johnson by series of non-disclousure agreements. They were not counting on a highly popular lobbyist learning of the information. Now that the merger is a done deal and Mr. Rogers and Ms. Grey shady deal is completed with Mr. Johnson out it will all be become very clear. As the North Carolina Utilities Commission presses forward for answers the truth will come out.
