Vernon, CA

A horrific car accident last night has killed three members of one family just outside of Downtown Los Angeles, and you can blame a drunk driver.

The three people killed Saturday night have been ided as:
  • Rafael Chavez-Rodriguez, 30
  • Jessika Quinonez-Gonzalez, 25
  • Amanda Samayoa, 70

The 6-year-old son of Quinonez-Gonzalez, survived the horrific crash.

Vernon Police officials said the four were traveling north on Alameda Street in a Honda when they were struck by a Dodge pickup at East Vernon Avenue just after midnight.

The driver of the Dodge, who was alone, fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later, his name has not been released. As soon as we know who he is, and when he appears in Court,  I will be posting it here on the blog.

It is still beyond my comprehension  that anyone would get behind the wheel of a car, late at night, and risk killing themselves and other innocent people, like this family.  If you are buzzed, or drunk, for God sakes, DON'T DRIVE!  My heart goes out to this family, and all of their friends.  If you have a special memory or thought on those who died, please share your thoughts in my comment section.

RIP!

Jessica was one of my best friends !! She was a good person, a good mom and a hardworking girl who's priority was her family. She didn't deserve to die like this!! A single mom who wanted what was best for her son. My condolences go out to all her family members who are devastated with their loss. Please keep them in your prayers. This was a huge tragedy. We still don't know how her son will take the news that he will never see His mommy, his grandma again. RIP !!!! We love u jessi we love u grandma and we love u rafa!! We will miss u so much
