It was a scene that could still end in the death of an innocent young child.   Details: Mom leaves her 2 year old toddler unattended in their apartment for "hours" in the middle of the night on Monday.   A fire breaks out, complex is damaged, and child is rescued after suffering "critical" injuries.   Mom is found...wonder where she was at in the middle of night...and today because of her "alleged actions," her baby is clinging to life.  If you are a parent, this crime will outrage you to the core...  Here are the details from the LBPD!
"On Monday, December 6, 2010, at approximately 3:10 a.m., Long Beach Police responded to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of East 55th Way to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a fire involving suspicious circumstances surrounding the whereabouts of the parents of a child that was rescued in the fire.
The 2-year-old male child did sustain injury and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.  An investigation was immediately launched and a child abuse detective responded to the scene to continue the ongoing investigation.  Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the child, who lives at the location with his mother, had been left alone at the residence for several hours.  The mother, identified as 31-year-old Patience Aruomah of Long Beach, was placed under arrest and has been booked for felony child abuse.  She is currently being held at the Long Beach City Jail on $100,000 bail.  The fire appears to have been accidental; however, the Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services  Anyone who may have information that could assist this investigation is asked to contact Child Abuse Detective Araceli Thue at (562) 570-7321 has been contacted and will also be investigating the incident.
