Cerritos, CA

Sad news from our community tonight.

Martin L. Kozdrey III, a 25 year old resident of our community lost his life this morning in a horrific crash on the "curve" from the northbound 605 Freeway transition to the eastbound 91 Freeway in Cerritos.  We all know how dangerous this part of our local freeway section truly can is, day in and day out.

Kozdrey was killed after his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup ran off the freeway in the "curve" just after Midnight Wednesday.

According to the California Highway Patrol's website, his Silverado left the popular section of the 605 Freeway, went down a dirt embankment and collided with an ascending embankment next to the eastbound 91.

If you have a thought or comment about Martin, please feel free to post it here on my blog.  So sad to see these kind of tragic crashes in this part of the 605 Freeway.  Too many people have lost their lives in this area for years.

I wonder if something will ever be done to improve the safety of our interchanges....

My Prayers are with Marin, and his family, and friends.  So sad.... RIP

We are so upset about this news. Marin was known as "Buddy" and he was just getting his life started. Amazing young man. Such a tragic loss for our community.

Our dear sweet Buddy was taken to soon. His passing will leave a void in the lives of so many.
Our lives are truely blessed and enriched having known him. Please everyone pray for the many who love him. Pray that they find comfort and their pain will ease with time. Buddy, you will never be forgotten. We miss you so.

Does anyone have funeral information for the community?

Buddy was an amazingly warm, funny and genuine person. He made everyone around him feel special. He was liked/loved by all who knew him. He had grown into a wonderful man. He leaves behind a void that will never be filled.

The family is working on plans for the memorial/funeral at this time. Tentatively it is going to be held Wednesday but other than that...no details.

Well miss you Buddy. One day, we'll see each other again, brother.

Martin was the most genuine and giving person, he was my co-worker but most importantly a great friend that was taken way to early. I love and will miss him.

I am Buddy's oldest sister, Michelle. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 8th at 2 pm at Parkcrest Christian Church located at 3936 Woodruff Ave in Long Beach. Major cross streets are Carson and Woodruff. A reception will follow. Don't feel obligated to wear black- let's celebrate his short but joyous life.
