Andrew Sabo, (dob 12-29-89), and Alex Ortega, (dob 8-7-94), were charged in case MA051285 with one count each of murder with an allegation that the murder was at the direction of, or to benefit a street gang. They are being held on $1 million bail each.

The victim, Erwin Velasquez, 18, was attacked and stabbed to death Nov. 17 in the 38500 block of Larkin Avenue, officials said. The attack allegedly occurred as rival gang members confronted each other on the street. Sheriff’s deputies and a special weapons and tactics team served search warrants Thursday in Palmdale and arrested Sabo and Ortega.

Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 20, at the Antelope Valley Superior Court, Department A1.
