Deputy District Attorney Larry Droeger of the Hardcore Gang Division said Leonard Hall, 21 (dob 2/4/89), and Marcus Denson, 18 (dob 11/17/91), are expected to be arraigned in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. The men are charged in case NO. BA377814.
Hall and Denson are each charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted, willful, deliberate and premeditated murder.
The complaint includes allegations of personal use of a firearm resulting in death as to Hall and principal use of a firearm resulting in death as to Denson. The criminal complaint further alleges that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang.
Hall and Denson of the Kitchen Crips criminal street gang allegedly entered rival gang territory the afternoon of Oct. 31. The men allegedly approached the back of a residence which opened up into an alley.
There, a group of men were gathered in a backyard. The child victim, identified as Aaron Shannon Jr., was running around, showing his father and others his Spiderman costume. Hall and Denson allegedly opened fire on the group, fatally striking the young boy and injuring two adult victims. The victims are not associated with any gang.
The boy died from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head, the prosecutor said. The two adult victims were not seriously injured.
Bail is recommended at $4 million for each defendant. If convicted as charged, Hall and Denson face a maximum term of 130 years to life in prison.
