Unbelievable.
Dead woman wins election in California.
Yep. Talk about a strange election season....
Voters have re-elected Jenny Oropeza to the California State Senate in the 28th District.
Oropeza died a couple of weeks ago due to complications of cancer. Democrats in Los Angeles County fought hard after the death of the popular Long Beach leader to keep her position "elected" on Tuesdays campaign.
So, now what? Well, since no one will be "seated" in the upcoming slot, newly elected California Democratic Governor Jerry Brown will have to call for a "Special Election" that will probably be held next March, 2011. If no one gets 50% plus one vote in that "special election" the leading Democrat, Republican, and other third party/independent party candidates will face off in a run-off 30 days after that primary....probably around April-May'ish.
Here are the latest results as of 12:51 a.m.
