SAN FERNANDO –
Mark Stephen Hubbard, that 51-year-old high ex-school teacher from Hillcrest Christian School in Granda Hills has been formally charged with engaging in a sexual relationship with a teenage student this afternoon.
He appeared in court today for arraignment on a 20-count criminal complaint.
Hubbard of Granada Hills is charged with the following:
- 16 counts of oral copulation of a person under 18
- 3 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse
- 1 count of sodomy of a person under 18.
- If convicted as charged, Hubbard faces a maximum state prison term of 15 years, eight months
Hubbard appeared for arraignment at San Fernando Superior Court this morning, but his arraignment was postponed until Dec. 13 in Department 130. Hubbard’s bail was set at $1 million.
The felony complaint alleges that the crimes occurred between April and November 2010 and involve one victim. The defendant was employed at Hillcrest Christian School in Granada Hills where the victim was a student.
During the past couple of weeks, I have spoke to many people from this campus and have received dozens of notes, and letters.
