Central Valley voters are "HOT" for VIDAK! |
So much for that 28-vote lead I posted earlier today in California's 20 Congressional District.
Challenger Jim Vidak went into orbit today, just like that "unidentified" object over Southern California yesterday, and it now appears that he may just dethrone longtime pol Rep. Jim Costa.
Vidak now has a ONE PERCENTAGE POINT lead over Costa.
Results as of 8:32 p.m.
Candidate | Votes | Percent
* | Jim Costa (Dem) | 33,936
Andy Vidak (Rep) | 34,584 |
Here is more about the "almost" new Congressman from California.
Andy was born in Visalia, CA to mother, Kathy, and father, Jim Vidak, the long time Tulare County Superintendent of schools. The oldest of five children, Andy marks the third generation of Vidaks to call the Central Valley home. Graduating from Redwood High School in 1984, Andy attended Visalia’s College of the Sequoias, California State University Fresno, and went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
After graduation Andy returned home to the Central Valley working for several Westside farms, achieving success and a reputation in California’s produce industry as a dedicated, results oriented manager.
In 1997 through years of hard work, Andy purchased his farm in Hanford, planting and growing cherries. He also became a partner in a lettuce cooling facility in San Joaquin. Andy’s long and diverse career experience in California’s agricultural industry has inspired a deep appreciation and understanding of the many issues facing today’s farms and all who depend upon a strong agricultural economy in the Central Valley, California, and the nation.
As an active lifelong Central Valley resident and grower, Andy has developed a first hand, keen awareness and understanding of the economic and water issues that have created the current financial crisis that plagues California today. He is firmly dedicated to the preservation and future development of California’s agricultural industry through tax relief, regulation reform, and sound environmental and water management planning. Through his work with advocacy groups, including Water for All and Families Protecting the Valley, Andy has shown leadership in tirelessly speaking out, advocating on behalf of new approaches to our water and economic issues and the need for reform in government to bring change to the Central Valley and California.
In 2009, at the height of California’s water crisis and the national recession, Andy saw a broken system of government, which no longer heard the people’s voice, and no longer represented their will. Andy decided to leave his farming operation, and to “fix the mess” that had been created by career politicians who are out of touch and by a government out of control in Washington DC. He announced his candidacy for the 20th congressional district of California, to provide honest and clear representation for real change; to be our voice in Washington DC.

Andy Vidak's "lead" has shrunk from 1823 to 145 votes. It is anticipated that today's updated count of Absentee and VBM ballots from Fresno County will put Jim Costa far ahead.
Vidak won't be the new Representative in the 20th CD for California
