LAWRENCE BROWN: BACK IN THE SLAMMER AFTER BEING OUT FOR LESS THAN 3 hours!

Sexual violent predator Lawrence Brown is BACK in custody.

From the OC District Attorney's Office!

OCDA Investigators followed Brown upon his release at approximately 5:00 p.m. and determined that Brown was in violation of his parole by riding in a vehicle with Ruby Huggler, the Tustin woman with whom he previously stayed during his brief parole in April 2010.

At approximately 5:29 p.m. today, OCDA Investigators and Tustin police officers performed a traffic stop of the inmate’s vehicle and took him in to custody for violating his parole. Brown is currently being transported back to Chino State Prison for the parole violation.

Based on the media coverage in this case and response by the community, the OCDA and Tustin Police learned of an adult woman early this morning who may have been a child victim of Brown in the late 1970s. An immediate investigation began.

  • As a  result of this potential new victim, one of the four evaluators from DMH has indicated she will change her opinion with the finding that Brown should be a Sexually Violent Predator.
  • Beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. today, the Department of Mental Health began faxing approximately 150 pages of evaluations to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) regarding the DMH evaluations of Brown.
  • At approximately 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, DMH did send a letter stating the OCDA could independently review the evaluations and file a petition if the OCDA felt DMH evaluators had made a legal error.
  •  The OCDA reviewed the documents and prepared a petition to present to the court.
  • The Department of Corrections placed a hold on Brown to keep him in Chino State Prison until 11:59 p.m.
  • Deputy Warden Richard Alvarado from Chino State Prison overruled that hold, and Brown was released from prison sometime between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.
  • During the time that Brown was being released, the OCDA was attempting to file the petition in court regarding the a legal error by DMH.
  •  As the inmate had already been released, the petition was no longer valid
  • As a term of Brown’s parole, he was prohibited from riding in any vehicle with any female. He was also ordered to report immediately to his parole agent upon release.
  • Teams of OCDA Investigators, Tustin Police Department officers, and Parole agents had pre-prepared a plan to follow Brown upon his release and monitor him 24 hours a day until he checked in with his parole agent.
  •  OCDA Investigators followed Brown upon his release at approximately 5:00 p.m. and determined that Brown was in violation of his parole by riding in a vehicle with Ruby Huggler, the Tustin woman with whom he previously stayed during his brief parole in April 2010.
  •  At approximately 5:29 p.m. Wednesday (today), OCDA Investigators and Tustin police officers performed a traffic stop of the inmate’s vehicle and took him in to custody for violating his parole.
Brown is now back in Chino State Prison for the parole violation. YAHOO!
